Helly Tech® is Helly Hansen’s proprietary waterproof, windproof, and breathable outerwear technology. Designed for performance in some of the world’s harshest environments, it keeps you dry and comfortable in all conditions — from ocean spray to alpine storms.

HOW IT WORKS
Helly Tech® is built with a unique 3-layer system that balances protection and comfort:

  • Outer Layer (Face Fabric): Durable surface treated with a water-repellent coating to shed rain and snow

  • Waterproof Membrane (Middle Layer): Microporous membrane that blocks water molecules while allowing sweat vapor to escape

  • Inner Layer (Liner or Mesh): Enhances comfort and moisture transport from your body to the outer layers

Together, these layers deliver long-lasting weather protection without sacrificing breathability or freedom of movement.

IS HELLY TECH® BREATHABLE?

DURABLE WATER REPELLENCY (DWR)
Helly Tech® garments are treated with a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) coating that causes water to bead and roll off the fabric surface.

This keeps your outerwear light, breathable, and dry — but DWR may wear over time and can be re-applied with the right care products.

HOW TO CARE FOR HELLY TECH® GEAR
Proper care keeps your gear performing at its best. We recommend:

  • Washing regularly (check garment label for instructions)

  • Avoiding fabric softeners

  • Reapplying DWR with spray or wash-in products when water stops beading on the surface
