Understanding Warmth & Insulation RatingsUpdated 4 days ago
HOW WARM IS THIS JACKET?
We understand it can be tricky to compare warmth levels — especially when you're gearing up for snow, alpine adventures, or cold-weather travel.
At Helly Hansen, we don’t assign a numeric “warmth rating” to each jacket because warmth is subjective. Your personal comfort will depend on:
Your own body temperature
Activity level (e.g. skiing vs. walking)
Weather conditions (wind, humidity, layering)
Instead, we focus on technical layering systems and the insulation technologies used in each garment.
START HERE – LAYERING AND BASELAYERS
What you wear under your outerwear matters just as much as the jacket itself.
